How should I care for my car door magnets?
Signs & Banners
First, check that your car door is steel. Some vehicles have aluminum or fiberglass panels, and magnets won't stick to them. Test with a fridge magnet before you order.
- When they arrive: magnets aren't always shipped flat. Lay them flat on the hood or roof of the car in the sun for a couple of hours to flatten them.
- Before applying: the magnet and the door should both be clean and dry, free of dust and wax.
- Once or twice a week: take the magnet off, wipe both sides and the door, and let them dry. This prevents moisture and dirt from building up underneath and damaging the paint.
- Storage: keep them flat indoors, in a cool dry place. Don't stand them on their side, they can bend and then won't lie flat on the car.
- Cleaning: a soft damp cloth with water only. No abrasive cleaners.
Rounded-corner magnets have a 1" corner radius.
