How much foil can I use, and how small can foil text be?
Business Cards & Finishes
- Coverage: keep foil to 30% of the design or less. Large foil areas can come out wavy instead of smooth.
- Up to 50% is OK only for patterns, thin lines or small shapes. Ideally no single foil area is bigger than about 1" x 1".
- Text size: 10pt minimum for regular fonts, 12pt minimum for bold or thick fonts. Smaller text fills in and loses detail.
Foil looks best on a logo, a name or a border. Use it as an accent, not for blocks of text.
