How do I set up a saddle-stitched booklet?

Booklets take a little more care than a flyer. Download the template for your size and page count, and follow these rules:
- Page count starts at the cover. The front cover is page 1, the inside front cover is page 2, and so on.
- Bleed and safety: 0.125" bleed and 0.25" safety on each side. An 8.5" x 11" booklet page is 8.75" x 11.25" with bleed.
- Single pages only. Don't send spreads, reader or printer. A multi-page PDF is best, but separate single-page files also work.
- Crossovers: an image that runs across two facing pages works best with big photos. Avoid text or thin lines across the center, because saddle stitching can keep the two halves from lining up 100%.
If you design in InDesign with facing pages, set the page size to the trim size, margins to 0.25" and bleed to 0.125", then export single pages with "Use Document Bleed Settings" checked.
