Can I put text or a design on the spine of a perfect bound catalog?

We don't recommend designing specifically for the spine. Binding can shift the cover slightly, so text, borders or a color block centered only on the spine can end up looking uneven.
A background or image that wraps around the whole cover, across the spine, looks much better and hides any small shift. Use the cover template, since the spine width depends on your page count.
